ADRIANA LISBOA
BRAZILIAN WRITER
Lisboa is a lyrical, introspective portrait of one of Brazil’s most celebrated contemporary writers. The film follows Lisboa from her native Rio de Janeiro to the snow-covered landscapes of Colorado, mapping a personal and creative journey shaped by migration, memory, and language. Through intimate reflections, Lisboa recalls her first encounters with snow, her childhood between the beaches of Copacabana and the rural backlands, and her evolving relationship with place—both geographical and emotional.
The film moves fluidly between past and present, between Rio’s dense urban noise and the silent expanse of the Rockies, revealing how Lisboa’s writing bridges worlds: sea and mountain, Portuguese and English, solitude and community. It also confronts questions of identity, speciesism, exile, and translation—not only between languages but between selves.
Lisboa explores the interior life of an author for whom storytelling is a way of navigating loss, family, belonging, and the fragile ecology of the present moment. A meditation on literature, empathy, and the search for stillness in a fragmented world. HD|30 min.
